WINTER HIKING IN PAZNAUN. PART 2: VERWALL, GALTÜR

Yes, Paznuan has the best ski slopes in the world – but that’s not all. Winter hiking is also really popular. Whether a steep ascent or comfortable walk on the flat, there’s something for everyone in Paznaun’s winter hiking routes. In this series, we introduce you to the best routes. The Verwall panorama route is around 12 kilometres long and takes four hours. The starting point, the Friedrichshafener Hut car park, is in the district of Valzur between Ischgl and Galtür, and can be reached by car or bus – get off at the Piel bus stop and walk a short distance out of the valley. The many twists and turns stake you up the mountain slopes, rising over around 500 metres in altitude. At times the climb can be a bit challenging, but as soon as you reach the view point below the Friedrichshafener Hut, you’re certain it was worth every single step.
