Why do people always have a problem with old snow, better known as “snow from yesterday” (and the German equivalent of “water under the bridge”)? The yesterday in this picture is more than fifty years old. And very much worth looking at.

We’re up on Idthaja here, with the Fluchthorn in the background. And there’s a huge amount of snow. This photo comes from the collection of the Risch-Lau postcard company, kept in the Vorarlberg State Library, and provides a good idea of what today’s ski area looked like in the past.

And you can understand why so many people want to come here in particular these days. Because it’s an incredibly beautiful place. With snow – no matter how old it is.
